Basant festivities at Kinnaird College for Women are celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural spirit. The campus comes alive with vibrant yellow decorations, symbolizing spring and joy. Students dress in beautiful traditional outfits, especially yellow dresses, reflecting the colors of mustard fields in Punjab. The event usually includes music, dance performances, food stalls, and fun activities that create a lively and festive atmosphere. Cultural performances such as folk dances and singing highlight the rich heritage of Pakistan. Basant at Kinnaird is not just a celebration of spring but also a way to promote unity, creativity, and cultural traditions among students. It becomes a memorable day filled with happiness, colors, and togetherness

26 organized by Kinnaird Science Club was successfully held on 27th January, 2026, at Kinnaird College for Women. The event brought together students from various departments to showcase their innovative scientific projects, experiments, and research ideas. The festival aimed to promote creativity, critical thinking, and a passion for science among young minds. Participants enthusiastically presented models and demonstrations, making the event both educational and engaging. KC SciFest-II’26 proved to be a vibrant platform that encouraged collaboration, learning, and scientific exploration within the college community.

House of Cards – Artfest
Hosted by Kinnaird College for Women, House of Cards – Artfest was a vibrant and creative event organized by the Textile Design Department in collaboration with the Fine Arts Club. The festival showcased students’ artistic talent, innovation, and passion for design through unique artworks and creative displays. It provided a platform for young artists to express their imagination, experiment with different techniques, and celebrate the spirit of art in an inspiring and energetic environment.

Youth as a Catalyst for Change: Pakistan’s Population Management Challenge
Kinnaird College for Women proudly hosted the Youth Conference on “Youth as a Catalyst for Change: Pakistan’s Population Management Challenge” on 10th February 2026, in collaboration with the Directorate General Population Welfare, Health & Population Department, Government of Punjab. Insightful talks by Mr. Salman ur Rashid on youth participation in reproductive health policy and Mr. Khubaib Kiani on responsible and enlightened youth inspired students to become informed advocates and ethical change-makers. The event also featured a powerful one-act play, “Meltay Hain Waqfay Ky Baad,” by Azad Theatre Group, highlighting social realities surrounding population challenges and the need for awareness and dialogue.

Media Karvaan 2.0
Kinnaird College for Women, through its Media Club, proudly organized the highly anticipated Media Karvaan 2.0, a 2 day landmark event designed to celebrate creativity, storytelling, and media engagement among students. The event brought together aspiring filmmakers, media enthusiasts, and industry professionals, offering a dynamic platform to showcase talent and encourage innovation. The opening ceremony was honored by Ms. Mehmal Sarfraz, renowned Journalist and Analyst, as the Guest of Honour. Addressing the attendees, Ms. Sarfraz highlighted the evolving media landscape and underscored the importance of ethical journalism, critical thinking, and innovative storytelling in shaping public narratives. A central highlight of Media Karvaan 2.0 was the Short Film Competition, which provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their cinematic skills and narrative abilities. The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges: Syed Noor – Renowned Film Director and Producer, celebrated for his contributions to Pakistani cinema Shahzad Rafique – Accomplished Film Director with extensive experience in film production Prof. Dr. Iram Anjum, Principal of Kinnaird College for Women, addressed the gathering, praising Media Karvaan 2.0 as a platform that nurtures creativity, professional growth, and confidence among students. She highlighted the importance of initiatives that bridge academic learning with real-world industry practices, encouraging students—particularly young women—to pursue ambitious goals in media, film, and communication sectors. Dr. Kiran Karamat, Head of the Media Studies Department, welcomed the participants and attendees, elaborating on the significance of Media Karvaan 2.0 in fostering critical thinking, storytelling, and hands-on media skills.

This capacity-building webinar was designed to strengthen the innovation ecosystem within universities by enhancing awareness and practical understanding of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). As academic institutions increasingly focus on innovation, startups, and commercialization, the session emphasized the importance of protecting intellectual assets alongside research development.The webinar aimed to familiarize participants with Pakistan’s national IP framework, build capacity regarding patent registration, and create awareness about copyright and trademark protection. It also highlighted the strategic role of ORICs (Offices of Research, Innovation & Commercialization) and BICs (Business Incubation Centers) in supporting researchers, faculty, and startups in managing intellectual property effectively.An interactive Q&A session allowed participants to engage directly with experts, raising practical concerns such as patent ownership, registration timelines, costs, and protection of student projects. Discussions also explored ways ORICs and BICs can collaborate more effectively with IPO-Pakistan.Overall, the webinar proved highly informative and impactful. It reinforced the need for universities to integrate intellectual property management into their research and innovation processes. The session highlighted that protecting ideas is as crucial as generating them, and that strong IP practices are essential for successful commercialization and technology transfer.
The learnings from this session will support ORICs and BICs in guiding researchers and startups, promoting timely patent filings, facilitating trademark registrations, and strengthening institutional coordination with IPO-Pakistan. Such initiatives play a vital role in transforming academic research into meaningful economic and societal impact in Pakistan.

A webinar titled “Promoting Women’s Entrepreneurship for Greater Participation in Innovation, Research, and Commercialization” was organized by the University of Wah under the Chief Minister Punjab Female Ambassador Program, in collaboration with the Women Development Department. The session aimed to highlight the importance of women’s active involvement in entrepreneurship and their role in driving innovation, research, and economic growth.The discussion centered around key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly gender equality, inclusive economic growth, innovation, and strategic partnerships. Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Saima Khan, Prof. Dr. Samina Khalil, Dr. Sanam Wagma Khattak, and Dr. Irfan Hussain Khan, shared valuable insights on empowering women through education, research opportunities, and entrepreneurial support systems.The speakers emphasized the need to create enabling environments for women, encourage policy support, and strengthen institutional frameworks that promote gender inclusivity. They also highlighted the importance of capacity building, access to resources, and mentorship in enhancing women’s participation in economic and academic sectors.
Overall, the webinar served as an informative and impactful platform, fostering dialogue on advancing women’s entrepreneurship and reinforcing the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve sustainable and inclusive development.

Faculty Development Workshop titled “Qualitative Research for Theory Development: Thematic and Content Analysis using NVivo.” on April 23, 2026
Under the visionary leadership of Professor Dr. Iram Anjum, Principal of Kinnaird College for Women, the Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) successfully organized a Faculty Development Workshop titled “Qualitative Research for Theory Development: Thematic and Content Analysis using NVivo” on 23 April 2026 at the LC-IT Lab.
This valuable initiative was taken by the Director ORIC, aiming to strengthen the research capacity of faculty members and promote the effective use of NVivo software for qualitative data management and analysis. Faculty members from the departments of Accounting & Finance, Business Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Sports and Physical Education, International Relations, Applied Linguistics, English Literature, Education, Media Studies, Persian, and Urdu actively participated in the hands-on training.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Professor Dr. Iram Anjum presented a shield and token of appreciation to the resource person Prof Dr Rab Nawaz in recognition of his valuable contribution. The Vice Principal of Kinnaird College for Women distributed certificates among all participants, appreciating their active engagement in this important faculty capacity-building initiative.
