Dr. Iram Anjum won Kinnaird’s first HEC NRPU Project with a grant of 2.3 million for a period of 3 years. The project deals with the molecular characterization of primary microcephaly, a genetic disorder. This project has also led to some noteworthy national and international research collaborations with prominent universities having technically advanced laboratories which will facilitate better research outcomes.
Dr. Iram Anjum has developed important national and international research collaborations with prominent universities having high throughput research laboratories i.e. Hospital Robert Debre’, France; University of Geneva, Switzerland; National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Faisalabad, Pakistan, thereby joining an international research consortium with Duke University, USA; University of Copenhagen, Denmark; Cologne University, Germany; Lubeck University, Germany; Uppsala University, Sweden; Beijing Genomic Institute (BGI), China; Genetron Health Beijing, China.
As Head of Biotechnology Department, Dr. Iram has launched two successful programs at Kinnaird College, i.e. MPhil Biotechnology (Approved by HEC) and BS Genetics, the first of its kind in entire Punjab province.
Dr. Iram Anjum has supervised 6 M.Phil and over 40 undergraduate Biotechnology theses. She is currently supervising 2 BS Biotechnology, 3 MPhil Biotechnology and 2 PhD Biotechnology research scholars.
