Dr. Atia Alam is an Assistant Professor in Accounting and Finance Department has successfully completed her HEC startup research project, of almost 0.219 Million Rupees, as a Principal Investigator. Her research focuses on Derivative Usage in Pakistani Banks and found that Pakistani banks are using derivatives mainly for speculative activities as a source of their non-interest income. But at the same time, findings of her study implies that policy makers should develop regulations in order to minimize high loses which may occur due to extensive usage of derivative instruments in Pakistani banks.
